远镜由4个100米长的半圆柱形天线组成，去年发射，在发射后不久检测到13次射电爆发，包括重复波。有许多理论可以解释这些宇宙波的起源。例如，这些波可能来自具有强磁场的中子星，或者两个中子星可能合并在一起。除了这些理论之外，一些观察家认为这些波实际上来自某种外星航天器。
